We are currently looking for a Director of Engineering to design, build, and operate a Data Warehouse in order to facilitate analytics and business intelligence to the organization. Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and build team owning the data warehouse for the company
  • Architect, design, and operate large scale business events and data warehouse infrastructure
  • Ensure the business has the data and analytics it needs to operate efficiently
  • Ensure the platform is high performance, reliable, and scalable
  • Build scalable data connections to many data sources
  • Provide data models as a product to entire organization
  • Work with stakeholders across the company to ensure their needs are being met
  • Communicate progress/blocks to peers/managers
  • Promote collaboration on/across teams
  • Participate in the design process to build efficient, scalable, maintainable architecture
  • Collect and analyze metrics to drive implementation decisions
  • Design, improve and document processes
  • Review and collaborate with other engineers on their code
  • Support your team through encouragement and by example
  • Mentor and share knowledge with the team

Requirements

  • Experience designing, building, and managing a platform for internal tools
  • Experience with SOA, micro-services, and/or distributed architectures
  • Experience acquiring data from many sources with stored in multiple formats
  • Excellent communication, initiative and ownership
  • Comfortable making decisions even with ambiguities
  • Passionate about technology
  • Proficient in data query languages such as SQL
  • Proficient in and at least one programming language such as Python
  • Experience using ETL tools and working with APIs
  • Great attention to detail
  • You have a knack for identifying risks/dependencies
  • Good at promoting discussion between team members
  • Emphasize and promote testing in development
  • Love collaboratively coming up with solutions to challenging problems
  • Communicate complex ideas and concepts simply and concisely
  • You are empathic and enjoy learning from and mentoring others

  • Experience moving from a monolithic code base to a microservice architecture
  • A passion for performance
  • Agile/Scrum/Kanban Style Processes
  • Experience with cloud storage (S3, GCS)
  • Experience with multiple database technologies (Postgres, Redis, DynamoDB, RDS)
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Apache Spark
  • Experience with business intelligence tools such as Chartio and Tableau
  • Experience with data warehouse tools such as Redshift
